12 hour courtesy
Courtesy. Is something that Malaysians are pretty bad at. There’s no such thing as people holding the door for others to pass through, letting up your seats for other people to sit on. Well yeah, there is of course people like that as well but basically, it all reveals out when we are left alone, no one with us that we began to show pattern. Cutting queues, Driving like a mad man honking at everything that we can possibly honked at and then we do the ‘blur face’ that everyone for sure knows how to do. Cut people’s car? NP, do the blur face like huh? what? your car is there? HA.
Suddenly on 428 these traits seems to disappear. Yes, perhaps we know we are being watched by the watchdog of government, perhaps we would like to prove to people that yes, we are 1 Malaysia on 428. Suddenly, our racial tension seems to disappear, everyone is chanting Bersih, hidup Rakyat, Proud to be Malaysians that kinda thing.Suddenly, old folks are being offered seats on the LRT, suddenly, people did not care for themselves and pass salt around.
Yes, I read countless of blogs which all seems to point out that people pass salt all around to counter the effects of tear gas. Suddenly, we became the Malaysia that Najib tried to create (at least in his ‘concept’. But of course we know he can’t be serious about 1 Malaysia because that would really mean disaster. People who are united can achieve much. Even God smite those to built the tower of babel) but failed.
Well, does it feels good? Of course it does. I won’t lie. It feels good being on a single course, united with hearts. It felt like what Malaysia should have been. But we are far from it. After the event, what happens? Do we still offer seat to the elderly, children, incapable? Probably not. We go on pretending. “Oh look, there’s an old man approaching… Hmm, I’ve been shopping in KLCC for 10 hours, my leg sore. I’ve got this seat. Perhaps I’ll pretend to be asleep. Yes. Good.” is probably our answer.
How nice it would be if 428 became our culture? Culture of courtesy. No, it is not just a mask we put on but this is us. We are courteous. It is a dream then. A dream that needs to be realize. Cleaning the electoral roll is important yes. But what happens after that? How can we ensure we advance? How can we become civilised?
Yes, it is something that many people might find it hard to digest. We are far from being courteous. But, this is constructive criticism. Something that is hard to digest as well for Malaysians. So next time, when we are facing choices, show courtesy. 428 proved that we can be courteous. Don’t let it just be that short 12 hours we do that.
My Account on Bersih 3.0
Haha, not a way to make a come back to the abandon blog, but hey, just want to jot down my experience before it was all washed away in time.
So, during the last bersih, I did write a post but it remained as draft and I remembered jotting down that the next time I would want to go because it looks awesome and looks like a good thing to do. But last minute, I was still reluctant as I was really quite tired. My mind changed when couple of my friends decided they want to go and I say. Ok, at least got gang want go.
We made some prep and decided to go down in the morning which was actually way too early but, no matter. We packed our yellow shirts and decided to wear it later on. We took the LRT and annoyingly, the LRT speakers kept on blasting out “Harap Maaf, station ini ditutup sementaranya.” Despite that, everything was still working so we boarded the train and once we were there, we were shocked to see people are already in yellow and walking about chanting.
The rest of the time, we were loitering everywhere from Petaling Street (breakfast) to Sinar Kota (Starbucks) cause some of my friends wanted ‘real coffee’ haha. then to Masjid Jamek. And just hearing the same chant over and over and over again. It was crazy. In my mind, I was like there’s no way anyone can stop this. It’s a movement that has gained much momentum.
In the back of my mind, I felt like man, I do want my country to become better but there are people whose passion runs so far ahead of mine. Even the Chinese teens / college students. They were different. They were passionate.
A cool thing happened while we were loitering outside of Starbucks. Out of nowhere, Postmen of Pos Malaysia decided to pull a stunt and they have a gang of 80-100? I don’t know… just drove past us @ Pasar Seni and honking at us waving their thumbs up. It was crazy. Look at the vid below. Kinda cool!
The excitement kept on building and people kept on coming. Some aunties dressed up in carnival mask and hairs as if it was. Indeed, all sorts of carnival stuff just kept on coming. Finally we decided we want to just chill at Masjid Jamek and boy Masjid Jamek was pack. It was unreal. People kept on chanting and we joined in this time.
As this was our first time, hearing people with single or double cause (Lynas) as well it was hair standing moments. It was so eerie that people chant in unison. If you were there and not supporting, you feel incredibly small…
People piled up as time past and soon. Lynas march reaches Masjid Jamek station. We were told to sit, stand, sit, stand and it was quite fun. Then we decided to make a move. That’s because somehow or rather, we were the makeshift pathway so we decided to check it out la. We decided to just move to Dataran Merdeka and see how. But it was impossible, so we squeeze all the way through and regretted our action which later would be thankful for.
We manage to get to shaded area under the tree in time so to save us from the heat of the sun. Talk about being passionate. Haha. We were there for quite some time and we then decide nothing is going to happen anyway it was well past 3:20 and we decided to just call it a day and begin to head back because of the traffic.
At that point (and later read that Ambiga did say we have done our part now disperse) and it is at that point, people started to cheering. People on higher ground holler at us to move forward. We knew that the barricade was down but we also saw water coming from the For Rough Use trucks and we knew it will be havoc. Shots are being heard and BAM! one landed at the shaded tree where we were a minute before. Joe hand me the mask and it does help I would say.
My team mates begin to walk and I did not know that Dataran and Sogo were that near. HAHA. It felt short, People handling salt out to us we said thank you and move on. We rested at Sogo area. Joe say let’s go eat at Sogo. (It was closed. Shutters were down, People couldn’t get in and out of train station) so we loiter a little more. And I went and check the LRT and it is close. Then I saw that people were still being gased even though, crowds were way far away from Dataran, People are still being pushed back.
At that point people holler to keep moving upwards. A spoke person says gather at Raja Laut, The Sultan Ismail LRT was open so we thought we should opt that. And I am glad we did because a few minutes after that police nabs and brutality began to show up everywhere. It was too unreal. The people had the power to fight back, but we’re just citizen who did nothing. The queue for train ticket was long. But we had TNG so yey! We couldn’t get out to Masjid Jamek, Bandaraya. The train did not even open and did not stop. People waiting on board was really trap.
We past by DBKL and saw some havoc stand off between people and cops. It was like as if some gang fight was bound to happen. Sadly, I did not see that image anywhere on the internet. Maybe they’ll surface over time. But it was unreal.
We went a long way and finally manage to get back safely and exhausted and dehydrated. It was memorable. Rumous began flying around on what happened. And till now, no one know for sure what had happened. Is this an inside job, police open baricade? Instigators? Opposition? Too many question with no answers. But it happened at that moment Ambiga / Anwar said to disperse. Sabotagage? Probably.
But, I would say, BN played their cards well. They were better prepared compare to the last time, take in all measurre, Whoever is the PR agent. Kudos. It was an even that is memorable. It was an event full of mystery but one thing is for sure. The government cooked this up. They clearly did not play tower defense… They shot at everyone. Sure some breached the barricade but they punish people all over. Why is that so? Cordinated attacks, Planted Cameras. Conspiracy? Quite a number of accounts of tear gas mysteriously appearing in the crowd, drop from a height. Which seems possible because how the heck the police shot the teargas some 300 meters away at that trajectory angle? By now, more and more ridiculous stories began to emerge.
So many questions that probably will not have answers. But one thing is for sure. People came with a single cause ok. maybe multiple cause but they all interlinked with each other. And it felt good to be a Malaysian just for a couple of hours. And it does not matter it plays into whose favour. Both side got what they ‘wanted’
But the winners is still the rakyat. A quote I saw recently after the event says it best.
“The tide that overtook others today awaits to ambush us tomorrow” What goes around comes around. We should never take anything for granted
Stories that could have been told over and over and over again. But one got to experience them first hand to really feel what it is like…
Oh and we walked 4.5km in total. The next few days, we were all super exhausted… HAH!
Just me (in yellow) and Joe.
Travel: Universal Studio Singapore – Part 1
Hola! It’s USS day. I’ve been looking really forward to this actually… I’ve never been to a well-runned theme park so this is first! Since I have tons of photos I shall split it into 2 post instead

We started the day by eating at Malaysian Food Court which has just been opened. You should check them out. Universal Studio allows multiple entry. Just tell them you’re coming back and come eat here. It’s just beside USS and the price is about $4-10 which is a lot cheaper than what you get inside USS. Oh hey. Klang Bak Kut Teh.

You don’t get much in the morning though, But for $4.50 this is what you get. I say that’s a pretty darn good deal!

I know It is a small theme park that you can finish within half a day with queues. To me it was jaw dropping as everything is big scale. Like if you want to do it, do it 110% kinda thing.

After the gates, we were initially walking where everyone is rushing to and it is my wish to go to Transformers 1st. But it looked kinda far so and the Lights Camera Actions were near us so we thought… why not? There seems to be no queue… And it was really quite empty
Everyone must go for this. It is beawesome. It is actually a stage where they show you how they shoot special effects movies… And at this stage, they were shooting a hurricane scene and it really kinda look scary… No pictures so yeah.

So next we went to transformers and is it as crazy as people put it? Well, Yes! It was intense. It is not merely a 4D experience. It is something more than that.

Erm…

Really not sure what is this. some ancient alien tech maybe… Didn’t stay long enough to check it out.

Briefing. To get you entertain for the wait. Did we wait long? Not at all. I think we waited for about 10 minutes including queue. Basically. Go early in the morning and ride this 1st.

Pick your glasses? After a while I began to really appreciate the amount of detail they put in to it.

The entire ride was conquered by my family. Although after that we pretty much chill the whole way because our legs went jelly.

Me and Mr Bee.

Tall Cyborg?

Sci Fi City is pretty small. The only rides were transformers and the roller coaster and also….

The cup thingy.

Dad and a real Camaro man. Ok its Saturday which is Bersih day hence the yellows. Turns out a lot of yellows around in USS.
After Transformers: The Ride, we decided to walk around and we passed by Ancient City. Actually, we barely stop to look around here since its all egyptian gods and stuff, we skipped through them. Haha.
Every portion is rather small, we went to the cities a few times in a row. So let’s skip forward to…

Oh hey land of fairy tale
With fake magical castle and all. Someone ought to build a real castle!

The castle is rather huge but inside its just some small kid ride with 4D motion master, which erm… not happening to me. Either the seat isn’t good or the spec isn’t good. Not too sure. Still, 400 pax per screening is pretty impressive.
Alright! I think that’s more than enough picture for 1 post More to come. And look who showed up?

Super look alike can?!?
Travel: The country of Sentosa, Singapore
This time during CNY my family traveled to Sentosa. Technically it is in Singapore. But, because of the location and so many different things surrounding Sentosa, it feels totally like another country. Getting in and out of Singapore city is already a hassle, so we practically spent 80% of our time in Sentosa. But Sentosa is a city that can basically self sustain and keep you busy esp when you’re there just for a couple of days.
Right 1st up… This is our Hotel we stayed in for 3 nights… Festive Hotel

This is where we stayed in – The Festive Hotel

The Balcony

Seven Hudred Eleven

The room. It is Family Deluxe but super small for 5 of us. Oh wells.

I do like the personal touch they put in. They use IPTV but the line super sucky and gets stuck and lags most of the time. You can rent the movies they have though but again, that’s hopeless.

Mom checking the attic bed. claimed by my brother. We woke up with stiff muscle everyday because there is just no room to move about on the sofa bed. The one jo’s sitting on.

Toilet is big and nice =) Only thing is the glass on the left. It is half glass and I think everyone knocked on the glass accidentally except me. Cos… I am a ninja. Jo banged her head there pretty hard in the middle of the night. It was so loud that it woke me up and then I laughed all the way when she came back. HAHAHA. (evil me but it was super funny!)
Ok enough of the room. We went about looking for lunch after that

My 1st meal in Singapore. How’s that? Kopi and Bread. Well, it was one of the cheapest food around so no choice. Others look like high end restaurant. That was in Toast Box btw.
After that we walked around.

The USS globe that appears on everyone’s photo…

Argh!!! Fatty in pink!

They were having some sort of flower exhibition because it is Chinese New Year. There’s plenty more but they were all dragons (boo…)
And later, we went back to and recharge a little and head out to Vivo CIty (Still the largest shopping mall) to just walk around

Something that I will definately come back and do again. The Boardwalk. The walkway from mainland to Sentosa. Cost $1.

Vivo City’s top deck. Nice place to chill.
Yeah a bit too tired so didn’t shoot much on the 1st day.

I find singaporeans’ ideas are as lame as Malaysia. The only difference is, they dare to execute those ideas.
We did not eat there though. We ate at food republic.

No picture of food though cos too hungry!
After that we took public transport to my aunty’s home.

My cousins and us
Alright that’s about it for day 1. Not much photo for this day actually… up next… Universal Studio… Stay tuned.

White Ang Pow
I am sure by now that the white ang pow given out by Perkasa is a well known story by now. Perkasa is of course a non govermental body to defend the rights of Malays.
Right now, everyone is buying favor by hosting CNY dinner everywhere and Perkasa did the same. Don’t really know why they want to do it but they made a stupid stupid mistake to give out White color Ang Pow. While white is considered ultimate possession of any iDevice, the same cannot be said of money in white envelope. Haha it is reserve for Chinese funeral.
Why the heck they did not use red, who knows? I mean why be unique which gives you so much problem? But this incident shows us how far we are from 1Malaysia. In fact, we did are not even close to being 1Malaysia. This whole thing is rigged. Scam. Creates more problem then solving them. Creates more outlet of syphoning money for the people of power. Just look at how many 1M product and campaigns being used. All this and we are no where close to vision 2020. What’s vision 2020? oh that’s right. Just another slogan by another Prime Minister.
Tell a child to not touch the hot kettle, the more the child have the urge to touch the hot kettle.Tell the citizens to don’t think of race, the more the citizens will think of race.
Finally Updated
Finally, I’ve updated the theme. I mean it is still not finish as in the widgets area need some work. But this is the 1st time I forgo the use of 2 column and use 1 column instead. Something new but I think you will like this as the photos will display bigger. But then again, people rather see it from Facebook these days HAH! Nevertheless. This will stick for a while.
Gong Hei Fatt Choy
Hello blog readers (if there’s one)
Happy CNY! This year is a little busier than last year but busy for what I also don’t know. I just came back from the country of Sentosa. Yeah I call it country because I think it is a country of its own…
Blog and pictures will be up soon and I hope I can take this holiday to change my blog layout. I know I’ve been talking about this like for-e-ver so yeah probably something dark again? I don’t know. Let me search up some templates
2012 Resolutions
Last year I set so many goals and I did not achieve most of them. This year. Same things. Lots of goals. Why so many? because life is awesome 2012
Musical Goals
- Improve skills at Bassing (not fishing type)
- Learn the Ukulele (gonna post this until I buy one)
Physical Goals
- 100 pushups
- Get into triangle shape
- Maintain +/- 60kg (at this point, I think I am about 64-65kg
- Run some 10kms again
Spiritual Goals
- Finish the bible
- Pray more, Devo more
- Get back into the heart of Worship
- Get deeper into God
Leadership
- Build leaders
Others
- Be more organised. Clean house often and don’t mess the house up
I think that is all for this year. Focus on few and drive home these goals
Nais! Bring it on 2012!
2011 – the year of confusion.
So. The year is ending and for whatever reasons, I am half looking and half dreading to move on to the next year. 2011 was very rocky in world terms. Recession just keeps going down, Tsunami + Fukushima Nuclear, Bangkok flood, Egypt, Syria, Lybia succcessful revolutions and the list goes on and on and on. It will not be a surprise that our world will not last a few more decades.
If I can sum up this year, it will come to a word. Deep.
This has been a year of deep thoughts… It was very unsettling because I realise that I can never get to a conclusion. It’s all about self reflection. It is a year that decisions are supposed to be made yet I have yet to come to a conclusion in those decisions. We can never quite find ourselves by looking at ourselves. But after all the reflection, I’ve realise that we can only get satisfaction from God. Afterall he designed us. He should know better?
2012 hopefully will be a year of clearer path way, setting out goals that make sense. Focus on a single subject rather than everything else. But those achievements does come with sacrifices. And sometimes those sacrifices need to be made because we cannot own everything wihout losing everything.
I am still drafting out my goals for this year. And I am glad 2012 is already here.
